Many don’t realize just how large of a part real estate plays in the finances of real royalty and celebrities. So how can more individuals invest in property like kings and queens, and reap royal rewards?

While both historic and modern day royalty may be famous for other things, their real estate plays a huge role in supporting their lifestyle. Where would today’s actors/actresses be without their real estate? Where would the Queen of England be without her castles? Believe it or not, real estate plays a big role.

Royal Landlords

Many don’t realize that the current Queen of England is one of the biggest real estate investors in the world, with a portfolio of around $17 billion. The Crown Estate brought in almost $600 million in returns from real estate for the year ending in the first quarter up 2015. That was up 7% from the previous year. This isn’t just about castles and royal vacation properties. The queen’s portfolio includes single family homes, and prime retail with tenants such as Apple. The UK’s royal family actually relies on their passive income from buy and hold real estate to cover their lavish annual living expenses.

Joint Ventures

Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund is considered the largest in the world with over $900 billion in assets. The Norwegian fund has invested heavily in real estate in the US, but has also paid out big bucks to lease property and joint venture with England’s Queen. Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway recently dove into joint ventures in a big way, and indicates it hopes to do a lot more of them. Weather just starting out in real estate, or already incredibly wealthy with a multi-billion dollar portfolio of prime income property; there can be enhanced rewards to be found from partnering up.

Identity

America may not have official royalty, but our stars’ identities are definitely interwoven with their real estate. This is true of Donald Trump, fund managers, musicians, and actors. Celebrity real estate is big news, and is followed by the masses. So go big and bold with your real estate too.

Real Estate Storytelling & Royal Property Prices

Celebrity real estate is the epitome of real estate story telling. Not only are individual properties prized for their previous owners and renters, but even whole towns often benefit in fetching a premium due to their association with famous names. This applies to famous writers like Mark Twain and Hemmingway, to fictitious movie characters like Scarface and Sherlock Holmes, to successful entrepreneurs. There are big bucks to be found in dealing in properties with good stories. Though there is also value to be created in creating your own real estate story.

Property Management

Still debating property management? Could you ever imagine the Queen or a massive fund manager knocking on doors for rent or fixing toilets? Obviously not. So why is it such a tough leap for individuals to leverage professional property management? If you want to go big, replicate the successful practices of others.

Giving

Whether you are inspired by Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Tony Robbins, or real royalty there is one thing all of these real estate owners have in common besides great wealth. It is great giving. John D. Rockefeller who was worth more than most sovereign funds today, and who is credited with designing modern philanthropy is said to have consistently given back from his very first paycheck at 16 years old. A time in which he made just a few cents a day. You may be able to give more money later, but that doesn’t mean we have to wait to help others.
